Count Your Words: Tips From A Call Center Employee

When calling a call center, make sure you speak clearly and slowly. Cut down on the background noise and do not get upset when the rep asks you to repeat something, especially if you are in a noisy area. Remember, the rep is just answering the phone, they are not the person who wronged you. Be nice…you don’t know what they are dealing with.

Today’s post is a writing challenge. This is how it works: contributing bloggers each picked a number between 12 and 74. The submitted numbers were then assigned to other bloggers challenged with writing at least one piece using that exact number of words.

I was assigned the word count number: 64

Use Your Words: His Dastardly Deed

I stared down the man, the man daring to stand at my door. How DARE he? After everything this man put me through?!
He could tell I wasn't happy to see him. This was evident by his eyes nervously darting around the room.
I looked at him with a quizzical glint, trying to determine why he was here. I looked him over from head to toe, noting the pink flush in his cheeks. "What are you doing here?" I questioned with my eyes. The faint smell of pizza reached my nose, causing my mouth to water in reminder that I hadn't had lunch yet.
Clearing his thought, he spoke up "I thought you'd be hungry" he said nervously, showing me that salad he prepared. I noticed how he made it exactly like I like it. My mouth watered some more. It looked fresh, so I know it was not from his kitchen; he never kept fresh veggies in stock.
Gazing at him through my long lashes, I hoped I was conveying a look of gratitude. I WAS hungry.
But I was weary as well. I've learned that food from this man always brought discomfort.
Greed took over and I graciously accepted his offering. As I ate, he rounded me, looking me over, running his hand over my back.
As I took another bite, I felt the sting of the needle piercing my hip. My eyes widened, then narrowed at his betrayal.
He'd done it again! He used my weakness for food against me! I'll never trust him again.
Then he had the audacity to lovingly rub my neck and call me a good girl.
How disrespectful!
"I know I tricked you, ol' gal. But I had to so you can get your medicine," He said.
I glanced down at him and could not muster any ill feelings. The man was just trying to keep me healthy. Given the considerable height difference, I'd probably trick me too.
How else are you going to give a giraffe a shot?
Today’s post is a writing challenge. This is how it works: participating bloggers picked 4 – 6 words or short phrases for someone else to craft into a post. All words must be used at least once and all the posts will be unique as each writer has received their own set of words. That’s the challenge, here’s a fun twist; no one who’s participating knows who got their words and in what direction the writer will take them. Until now.
My words were "giraffe ~ pink ~ kitchen ~ pizza ~ door" and they were submitted by Wandering Web Designer. Thanks!
